ACTIVE DUTY & MILITARY SPOUSES
Still serving — and still moving.
about what sits beyond it, what a PCS actually does to your insurance, and a career that
survives the next set of orders.
AVIA is a private insurance agency. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs, or any branch of the armed forces. Nothing on this page is an offer of government benefits.
Is this you?
- SGLI is the only life insurance you have, and you have never priced anything else.
- You are separating or retiring soon and nobody has mentioned VGLI conversion deadlines.
- Every PCS leaves you re-sorting renters and auto coverage from scratch.
- You are a spouse whose career restarts every two or three years.
- You want something that is yours, that moves when you move.
If any of these sound familiar, a 20-minute conversation will cost you nothing and probably answer more than you expect.
WHAT WE HELP WITH
What we help active duty families with
This page is education only. AVIA is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or soliciting on behalf of the Department of Defense or any branch of the armed forces.
01
Coverage beyond SGLI
SGLI is capped and it stops when service does. We explain what a civilian policy costs at your age, and why it is usually cheapest to lock in while you are young and healthy.
02
SGLI to VGLI conversion
There is a window, and missing it costs you the guaranteed-issue right. We walk through the timing and compare VGLI against the private market so you can see both.
03
PCS moves
Renters and auto coverage rarely transfer cleanly across state lines. We make referrals to property and casualty partners so there is no gap mid-move.
04
TRICARE education
What TRICARE covers, where the gaps sit, and what supplemental coverage is actually worth buying for your family.
05
Family and dependents
Spouse and child coverage is the piece most often left to last. We look at the whole household in one sitting.
06
A spouse career that moves
A licensed, work-from-home insurance career with AVIA goes wherever the orders do. Part-time to start, around everything else you carry.
Common questions
Is AVIA affiliated with the DoD or my branch?
No. AVIA is a private, independent insurance agency. Nothing here is endorsed by the Department of Defense, any branch, or any government agency. We do not solicit on base.
Should I keep SGLI and add to it?
Often yes. SGLI is inexpensive while you serve. The question is what sits alongside it and what happens the day it ends — which is exactly what the call is for.
When do I need to decide about VGLI?
There is a limited window after separation, and a shorter one for guaranteed acceptance without health questions. Bring your separation date to the call and we will map it out.
I am a spouse. Can I actually build a career around this?
Yes — that is the point of it. The license is portable, the work is virtual, and AVIA 1/10 is built to be done part-time around a household that moves.
Do you handle home and auto?
Through referral partners today. A full property and casualty offering opens in January 2027.
What does the first conversation cost?
